LABURNUM BOAT CLUB

 Laburnum Street, London E2 8BA

The Laburnum Boat Club is a community-based boating project by the
Regents Canal in Haggerston. It is essentially a water-based youth club, providing a range of activities for Hackney children and young people throughout the year – with a particular emphasis on kids with disabilities.

The Youth Club is open 5.00pm to 7.00pm on Tues and Weds, and from 11.00am to 4.00pm on a Saturday. It is open-access to everyone over nine years who can swim 25 metres. The main activity is canoeing (so bring a change of clothes and old trainers for your feet). There are games, races, short trips, instruction and more.

On Monday’s and Thursday’s from 4.30pm to 7pm we have a sports club for young people with disabilities aged 9-19. We do different activities every week ranging from canoeing to football, from kayaking to climbing and from swimming to bowling! We also go on trips and days away during the school holidays. This is a closed club so get in touch for an application form and join as quickly as possible.

Every first Saturday of the month from 11am to 4pm (excluding school holiday times) we also have an “Out and About club” which gets young adults aged 19-26 with disabilities out and about in London! This club is to promote independence and self-confidence. We use public transport to get us around and try to see as many London attractions as we can. Again this is a closed club so get in touch for an application form.
